To celebrate the release of SWTOR 7.0 BioWare offers the “Legacy of the Sith Digital Collector’s Edition” bundle. Find out if it’s worth it!

What’s the Legacy of the Sith Digital Collector’s Edition

The Legacy of the Sith is the newest digital expansion to Star Wars The Old Republic. It was released on February 15th, 2022. Along with it BioWare is selling an exclusive bundle of goodies. This bundle will be available until March 15th, 2022.

The Digital Collector’s Edition is available for purchase via swtor.com website of the Steam client. It costs $39.99 (€39.99) and is granted immediately upon purchase.

Endonae purchased from swtor.com and got his items in the mailbox almost immediately. Mine came about an hour late. I purchased it from Steam. Not sure if the delay was normal and there’s no way I can test it again.

To purchase from the game’s website, go to the Store Page and click on the button “Buy Now”.

To purchase the bundle from Steam, go to the SWTOR Store page on Steam. Scroll down and find the Bundle under “Downloadable Content”. It doesn’t task you with downloading any additional data. It’s just how Steam labels these things by default.

When you make a purchase on Steam, you always have an option to get it for yourself or purchase as a gift for a friend. If you make a personal purchase, you can attempt to get it a second time for yourself again, but Steam will warn you that you will not get a second copy of the items.

And you do not need to get a second copy, really. The three in-game items from this bundle are account-wide unlocks and will be given to every existing or future character you create on any server.

Contents of this Bundle

The Legacy of the Sith Digital Collector’s Edition bundle contains the following items:

  • 30 days of subscription time
  • 2400 Cartel Coins
  • Malgus’s Command Chamber Mount
  • Darth Vindican’s Dualsaber
  • MD-CH1 Droid Minipet

The 30 days subscription is valuable, because it will grant you full unlimited access to the game, including all of its expansions (yes, Legacy of the Sith too). This time will automatically be added to your subscription time when you make the purchase. You do not need to input a code or anything.

The 2400 Cartel Coins will also be added to your account automatically and you will be able to spend them immediately on anything from the Cartel Market in-game store. The Cartel Coins are yours forever. You do not have to spend them right away. BioWare adds new exclusive items to the Store with every major update to the game, which is every few months usually.

The in-game items are granted via in-game mail. After you make the purchase, you will receive a new mail on all of your characters. It will look like this:

Full Items Overview

Now, the fun part! I will show you some close-ups in nice high resolution, along with a few comments on these items. And you can check out the video overview below as well.

Malgus’s Command Chamber Mount

The mount is probably the weirdest mount in SWTOR. And I say that with the clear mind that there are a lot of strange-looking vehicles in the game already.

This metal can has giant glass panels on the front, left and right. It has fully designed interior space that you can look at if you zoom in close enough.

It has a special effect. If you click the flourish button (can’t remember which is default, mine is CTRL+Z, but I think I customized it years ago). the top half of that mini chamber lifts up, revealing the interior space in its full glory! I skipped that in the video, but you can see it in the images gallery below.

When you open the mount up, a small metal container flies out. Then the mount closes up again, but the container remains outside and follows you. Next time you activate the Flourish again, the container goes back in.

Darth Vindican’s Dualsaber

The Dualsaber looks great. The one big downside to it is that while the bundle is available (March 15th, 2022), you will not be able to use the item on a level 80 character.

BioWare decided to delay the release of one of the most demanded features for this game – “Weapons as Outfits” to Game Update 7.1, which has no release window announced yet, but it certainly doesn’t seem like it will arrive before March 15th.

With the release of 7.0 and separation of Combat Styles from Origin Stories, you can now play more freely storycontent with a dualsaber wielding class that you previously couldn’t.

While on this topic, be sure to check out the SWTOR Combat Styles Guide to learn what Combat Styles bring to the game, what limitations they have and how to get a second Combat Style for all of your characters.

MD-CH1 Droid Minipet

The minipet is mouthy. I, of course, can’t tell what it says, but it makes noises all the time. When you click on it, it makes even more noises. Traditional buzzes and clicks, you know.

I am 101% certain that these letters have a meaning, but I could not make up anything logical. Any ideas? Does MD-CH1 mean anything to you? It sure does to BioWare!

Is the Collector’s Edition worth it?

It’s important to note that the Legacy of the Sith Digital Collector’s Edition does not grant you access to the old Collector’s Edition Vendor on the Fleet. It does not give you any additional story or content to play through. It does grant items that are way more expensive if you have to buy them separately.

SWTOR Collector's Edition Vendor in the VIP Lounge on the Fleet

Let’s do the math. The Cartel Coins cost ~$20. The Subscription alone is ~$15. This so far adds up to $35. And you pay another $5 for three in-game items. If you like at least one of these three in-game items, and you play to use it, then this bundle is totally worth your money.

I really can’t remember the last time BioWare came up with a new Bundle of items that were so cheap. This is a steal. I very rarely advocate for spending real-life money on digital currencies for in-game items, but this one here makes an exception because it is a great package and well worth your money. Well, it was worth my money!
