BioWare revealed the release date for Update 6.2 and the full schedule for all in-game events set to appear in Star Wars The Old Republic during the month of December. There are a couple of special ones, because it’s “the Holiday season” and on top of that the game turns nine years old this month!

Pirate Incursion

The Pirate Incursion in-game event takes place on Dantooine. It was first released with SWTOR Game Update 5.10.3 in early Summer last year.

The Pirate Incursion is available to all players level 20 or higher. This month it started yesterday December 1st and will last until next Tuesday – December 8th.

The event will make another appearance at the very end of the year. Between December 29th and January 5th you will be able to participate in all of the daily activities and continue earning reputation, tokens and rewards on Dantooine.

If you are a new player, check out the Dantooine Missions Guide and know that there are a few special activities that you can do only while the event is not active, so even after the event ends, you will still have a reason to visit Dantooine a few more times.

Rakghoul Resurgence on Tatooine

Here they come again! Zombies… I mean Rakghouls! The Rakghoul Resurgence event is the oldest one of all events that will return for another week this month. I cannot even remember in what year it came up for the first time. I do remember that the original Rakghoul event was cooler and more fun, but… that’s another topic! D’OH!

Starting December 15th and lasting for a week until December 22nd you will be able to jump down into the tunnels below the sands of Tatooine and hunt rakghouls, achievements and rewards once again!

The Hyland Organization for Rakghoul Neutralization (T.H.O.R.N.) has issued an official level-2 emergency alert concerning an outbreak of the Rakghoul plague on Tatooine. Quarantines have been put in place to restrict traffic of the plague off-world, but exceptions will be made for individuals with priority clearance.

T.H.O.R.N. is recruiting qualified volunteer emergency responders to travel to affected areas to combat the spread of the Rakghoul plague. More information about the outbreak can be found by checking the News Terminals on the Republic or Imperial Fleet!

T.H.O.R.N. wishes to remind you that plague symptoms can be treated if they are identified in the early stages of infection. Whether or not you have travel plans, please consult your nearest trusted medical supply droid and get vaccinated!

Life Day is back

The Holiday Season in Star Wars is marked by a special Wookiee Life Day celebration. Each year Star Wars The Old Republic brings back the lovely (cough) snowball throwing guns and all the other cool ornaments and decorations to celebrate this event!

Fun fact: my sentinel Vulkk has been wearing the Life Day robe for many many years now as his main and only outfit. I should be thankful to the Life Day for giving me the best possible outfit for my main character. Despite the fact that today it looks very outdated compared to all of the new Cartel Market shiny cosmetics.

Nine Years Anniversary

Star Wars The Old Republic was released on November 21st 2011. There is some arguments of the exact date, because of time zones and such, but that’s not important now, right?

This is not going to be an event. BioWare is always celebrating the anniversary of the game with a special vendor arriving to the Empire and Republic Fleets and offering cool special anniversary decorations.

This year there will be new Class Ship Stronghold Decorations. All of the items from previous years will also make an appearance, in case you have missed them.

The vendor will be available on the Fleet between December 15th 2020 and January 5th 2021. Plenty of time to find Vulkk and throw a snowball at him. He loves that!

All Worlds Ultimate Swoop Rally

The All Worlds Ultimate Swoop Rally is a speeder-focused event in which you can participate in three different types of tracks on three different planets. As you gain reputation with the factions participating in the event, you will learn some of their secrets and earn rewards for winning races.

The newest addition to the recurring events makes a return between December 22nd and December 29th. Celebrate Christmas (or don’t, depending on your religion) with the swoop bikers and their gangs on Dantooine, Tatooine and Onderon!

If you need a quick orientation course, check out the SWTOR All Worlds Ultimate Swoop Rally Event Guide.

In recent years BioWare used to provide the schedule for both December and January in one update. This year we only get to know what events will be available until January 5th. Either the team is planning to take a shorter vacation this time around or we will get the January list a bit later this year.

Conquest reset time is changing with 6.2

This isn’t exactly related to the in-game events, but it is still an important update that’s worth mentioning and explaining why it is happening! Actually, it is. Most of the in-game events are tied to Conquest events!

The new reset times for the Weekly Conquest events is 12:00 pm GMT on Tuesday. This is the same time that all other activities and recordings reset for the week in the game. The previous Conquest will end at 11:00 am GMT, an hour before noon.

Daniel Steed explained how and why the devs are changing the reset times for the Conquest:

Some of you have been curious why we’re making this timing change. We have aspects of SWTOR that reset on a weekly basis – Operations lockouts, Weekly Mission Resets, Conquests, etc. We know that these events are important for players and some modify their playtime based on when these resets happen. Aligning all our reset timers makes things easier for players to keep up to date with SWTOR, provides an expectation for future resets, and helps prevent potential development problems on our end when having multiple systems using different resetting behavior.

The change is going live with the release of Game Update 6.2 “Echoes of Vengeance”.

SWTOR 6.2 Echoes of Vengeance Release Data Confirmed

BioWare announced the release date of the next story content update to Star Wars The Old Republic! Game Update 6.2 entitled “Echoes of Vengeance” is coming out on December 9th 2020 – Wednesday.

Wedensday is an unusual and not traditional date for a patch, but the window for this one to be released and eventually hotfixed (if needed) before the Christmas Holiday Season starts, is very slim, so BioWare are kind of in a tough spot here. We don’t want the Ravegers Exploit fiasco to be repeated, don’t we?
